Let's take that a
step further and call it ""marketing effort follow-up
for results archived."
You will hear the word Campaign used a lot. That is really any
marketing effort you try.
Maybe getting
subscribers for your Ezine, (described later), running a special on
your own product or service, selling affiliate programs for others
products/services to run a survey from your mailing lists.
So for anything
you put out there, you should know if it was worth the effort for
results obtained. If it doesn't archive the desired results, you may
want to change something about it or try something entirely new. Any
way you need to know what has happened or you are just shooting in
the dark.
Say you ran
several special giveaways to get new subscribers. If you don't see
what happened from your efforts, you will not know which one worked
the best. This information will help you on another campaign if you
know how to apply the results. Without them, guess what?
A good example is
Autoresponders. You should run a special account for every program
you promote.

Give free software
or related E-Books to get new subscribers.

Give bonuses for
purchasing one of your products/services or a package.

Get folks to
respond to a survey with a reward.

Build your own
affiliate program.

Many other things
you will learn as you grow.
You should run a separate
autoresponder account for each effort you try. If you have a good
Autoresponder program or Autoresponder service, you should be able to
run unlimited accounts with multiple mailers. One of the many things

You should have a
way to track your page traffic to see how many people are actually
looking at your site. Also when you are running a marketing campaign
you should run separate sales letter pages so you can track how many
people visited that sales page. There are Great tracking tools on
your Pleske Hosting Control Panel. However you may want something

can use in some of the download section. Also in the resell package
offers (discount priced for members) that you can use as well as
resell to your customers. Remember that free has a price and it may
be trying sell you something they offer. It is OK to use the Free
stuff if it doesn't take potential buyers from your site!

Now you can see
how many responded to your subscription form because you will use an
autoresponder to manage the sign-ups. You will know how many
responded to buy your offer then check that against the amount of traffic.
If you are
actually tracking which promo is working best, you can work this with
your autoresponders against visitors or buyers against visitors and
responder requests.
I will tell you
that in my old age I am not as diligent on tracking as I used to be
but I still do a good amount. I probably could increase my sales by
another 15 to 20% if I put in the extra time. However I find it rewarding
to help others by putting together programs like this and writing E-Books.
